This is why you cannot use your authority because you do not know who you are in Christ
The doctrine of works today is just like the doctrine of Pharisees back that day.
(This is a transcript of an audio sermon.)
Let’s repeat it with me: I am a believer and God has given authority to me.
It is so hurting these days to see how most believers exercise no authority over their lives, their children’s lives, their houses, their marriages, their finances, and so on. You can be a believer for years and not have even heard about the authority of the believer in Christ and that is overwhelmingly sad.
You know sermon on the mount was the first and longest sermon of Jesus. Standing on the mountain, He delivered a mesmerizing message. He captivated the audience. There was nothing in common between His speech and anything anybody ever heard. He spoke diversely than the messages delivered by the Pharisees and the Sadducees in the temple. Even distinct from John the Baptist and his message of repentance.
He was such a walking mystery. A paradox was standing on the mountain before people: His meekness, innocent charm, and radiating authority made Him irresistible. People have never heard anything like this. He was good news to the poor, to the meek, to the sick—a light illuminating in darkness. His hypnotic charisma poured out authority through words that were piercing their hearts. Words that were fresh and remained fresh. His message was filled with authority.
Ohhhh, if all believers could grasp the power that Jesus left for us. If all believers could believe what they really carry as a believer of Jesus Christ. Once you enter that authority, your marriage will change, once you enter that authority, your children will change, and once you enter that authority, your health will change. But did you even know, did you even know, you have authority?
Generation after generation heard His words, and they still carry the same authority that the audience on the mount sensed. He is alive, and His word is alive. I read His word just like the morning news. The Bible is real-time good news. Just as it happened right now, and it never expires.
In part one of the “dominion,” series, we talked about how anything coming from the darkness, is not from the Lord, and believe me or not many Christians today are convinced that their sickness, lack, poverty, or misery come from the Lord. Ohhh God helps us. They lose their loved ones and rebel against God. Saying why did God take my husband? Child? Brother or sister? Well, let me tell you something, honey. It is not God, it is the devil!
But you have to understand, you can do something about all this! The devil keeps you ignorant feeling unworthy! He brings you under condemnation. Did you know that no weapon against you will prosper, and every tongue raised against you, you will condemn? But if you are not aware of your power, how do you want to make the devil run?
It is amazing how people fear the devil. Once I was in a congregation of a few people and when I asked about their new project which was going very well, the pastor, you heard me right, the pastor whispered in my ears “let’s not talk about it before it finishes, the devil will destroy our work! Oh my God! That is nonsense! You are a pastor! You must be kidding me! Did you know pastor that He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world? Jesus, who is in me, is greater that the devil who is in the world! Common somebody! You are more than conquerors!
Victory over every condemnation is your heritage! Hello? 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” When you get saved you obtain the nature of God as we said in the first part of this sermon. You partake in the same spiritual DNA of the Lord Himself. 2 Cor 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” And that is all by His grace. The born-again believer in Christ becomes righteous the moment He accepts Jesus as His savior. Romans 8:1 No condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus! Do you believe your Bible?
Do some preachers tell you that you need work to become righteous? They have Sacred cows! The doctrine of Cessation? Sacred cows! Condemnation? Sacred cows! God had made you righteous! Did you make a mistake? Did you err that night in that little corner? Repent and come back to Him immediately and get cleansed right then and He will remember your sin no more. Ohhh His arms are so warm, so loving, so inviting so longing for you to come back! There is no condemnation. that’s why you go to heaven. Yes, you may sin- either because you are weak or because you are still a baby in Christ but come to his loving arms immediately and be cleansed because saved is saved.1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
This is why you cannot use your authority because you do not know who you are in Christ. God dwells in you! Whoever tells you, you need works to get right with God talks from the pit of hell. Oh, how God detests hypocrisy. The doctrine of works today is just like the doctrine of Pharisees back that day where they were illegal shepherds of Israel because of their poisonous hypocrisy— Concerned for outward recognition and honor. So much observance for external washing and no faith and mercy inside. Lustful for human approval and envious of whom gain it more. These doctrines interpret the word as they please—adding fences and hedges to make it more complex every day for the ordinary man to live without their authority. Jesus opposed their blatant legality.
We need to study carefully John 12:31 where Jesus says: Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
The Devil Is Already Defeated and Trampled Under Your Feet!
There are two verbs here:
1- Present: now the judgment of this world is.
2- Future: now the prince of this world shall be cast out.
By crucifying the Lord of Glory, this world “is” judged, and as a result, the prince of this world shall be cast out.
In this casting out, there are two elements:
a- Physical
b- Spiritual
On the day of judgment, the devil will be physically cast out. However, after the resurrection of the Lord, the devil was already spiritually cast out of His redeemed ones.
So, the devil lives in the world with no portion, place, or victory over the believer. However, the believer should be aware of his authority over the devil and constantly exercise it over him. The believer’s authority only arises from the knowledge of the power of the blood of Jesus and his identity in Christ.
Aaron, the High Priest in the Old Testament, was a type of Christ. His supernaturally blossomed rod was a shadow of the authority of the believer. As long as the believer raises his rod of authority and keeps it up, the devil has no power over him. He (the devil) can roar like a lion and devour, but he is defeated and has no say over the believer, and this is the significance of “he is cast out of the redeemed.”
Honey, You need to stand up and exercise your authority. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. There is no broken marriage, no addicted child, no burnt house, no bankruptcy, no attack without the devil! Take your authority in the name of Jesus which is above every name, stand up and make every devilish knee bow to His name. there is power! In the name of Jesus! Use it! Move in it! It is your cutting sword! It devours every power, principality, and ruler of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places. Now, listen up! Get your stuff ready sharpen your sword and take what is yours. Is it your child? Take him back! Your husband? Take him back! Your promotion? Take it back! You may not see it, you may not feel it, you may not see anything at the moment but listen up, God says in the name of Jesus every knee shall bow! EVERY knee! And every tongue shall confess! And I believe my bible and wait to see on the outside what happened immediately on the inside. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Yes Lord Yes!
