When Nothing Seems to Work
Are You Stuck?
(This is the transcript of an audio sermon.)
You had a failure and disappointment, and you are discouraged. You have done everything you could, but nothing moves. You are very close to self-pitying, becoming your worst enemy, and blocking the flow of God’s abundance.
The world will tell you to trust, believe in yourself, and do things that amuse you more. That we cannot control everything, and if you have done all, if you have polished your resume, if you have called all people you knew, you will find a better job, a better report, a better opportunity and from this point forward, there is nothing we can do but wait for somebody to notice you.
Ohhh hallelujah! Praise the Lord that we do not depend on the world. Thank God that we are in the world but not of the world. Thank God we have the name of Jesus and a treasury of the scripture that we can stick to and stare at our promise. Did you know the phrase “fear not” has been repeated 365 times in the Bible? That means you have one “fear not” for every day of the year, but what we need to do in such situations is to look forward to the promise and check it every day, you know why?
Because the promise today is just as the promise written 2000 years ago. Not one word of the promise has changed. Have you not noticed, have you not heard that He is God and change not?
But you may ask, how can things change when nothing is moving? Well, honey, things ARE moving. What is not moving is your frozen mind which tends to see only the volume of your problem and not the volume of your God. Let me tell you a worldly story, an easy-for-everyone-to-understand story, not a supernatural Biblical story.
Do you know Lionel Messi? The highest-paid soccer player after Cristiano Ronaldo? The one who won the Ballon d’Or’ championship six times? Did you know he was too small to play and was cut off from the soccer team at the age of 11 due to a hormone deficiency? Let’s go back in the time machine at that point. Could anybody ever imagine at that point that he would win the world championship in football and become one of the most fulfilled and most achieved personalities in the world of sports? His dream was too big for letting him give up. He placed himself under a six-year hormone therapy and a strict diet where the doctors would inject him for seven consecutive days in just one leg and another seven consecutive days in another, and no particular progress was evident throughout those six years.
See, this was an ordinary example of an ordinary process that didn’t seem like it is working, but the hormones were working inside and blossoming very slowly, but at some point, the muscles burst out and proved that in fact, it was working on the inside and it was developing deep inside the bones and the base was building up. This was a physical process, a worldly process. Now, what about our supernatural world, the supernatural soil of our faith, and the supernational seed of the word of God within His promise?
Has the word ever changed? Has God ever changed? Had the devil and his tactics changed? No! He is the same poor miserable fallen angel with the same old tricks whispering in your ears that it didn’t work, that you couldn’t make it, that your labor was not good enough, and you can never succeed! Oh hallelujah! Shout and roar at him and say hey, devil! My Jesus has never changed! The word has never changed; it is still there! It is growing inside, blossoming inside where all Is dark, and nobody can see but the eyes of faith! Not natural eyes but the eyes of faith! I don’t need natural eyes to see, but my eyes of faith see the promise! I have the promise! And when the devil says: Really where is it? IT IS WRITTEN! GOD SAID IT IS, THEN IT IS! I believe because God said so!
Ohhh hallelujah! Thank God we have the most potent armor ever accessible to human beings, the armor of prayer, the armor of intersession, and the sharp slingshot of fasting. Did it not work? Fast! Did it not work? Pray! Did it not work? Intercede and did it not work? Praise Him like never before! Praise Him even more; if you have the promise, don’t ever doubt that it may not work. It will! It will work! It has been working on the inside and you will see the result on the outside hallelujah1 thank God for the name! We have the name! the name! praise His holy name.
